Well as far as a progress report goes, we are waiting on a response from the leader of Knitta Please. I'm also talking to a friend about getting a hold of a prominent spray artist who has painted around austin and is seemingly famous in the scene. There are a few different options available to include. Lacey found a fantastic store in austin that provides yarn and might make for a good location or alternate perspective. www.theknittingnestaustin.com
Also, this apparently is similar (if not the actual project) to the latest project of Magda Sayeg. I have a feeling that as soon as we get a reply, fantastic images will unfold.
still, there we haven't really found one story, we just need a response from the leader of Knitta Please for the ball to start rolling
Hi Andrew and Lacey,
ReplyDeletethanks for posting this update. I couldn't see the image- maybe you could re-post?
I'd say you need to impose a deadline on yourself to receive a response from Magda. In the meantime, see if you can find other ways to contact her-- through her blog, or maybe someone at the Knitting Nest store knows her? These are always pretty small communities where most people know each other, or know someone who knows them. I noticed that there's a photo on the store's site of a knitta-type tree, so maybe that's a clue. There's a ton of press articles on her site, so perhaps one of the writers (maybe start with Houston Press or someone more local) might have a phone number, or can write a quick email of introduction.
It's a great idea, as you know, but impossible without the cooperation of the subject! So you guys should make every effort to contact, but at some point, you have to take non-response as a no. Let me know what your deadline will be, and in the meantime you might keep ears and eyes open for other possibilities. But don't give up on it yet; just make sure you've explored every way to get the message to her.
